  1. Carbon Dioxide Capture and Utilization in particularly the application of novel and advanced materials for CO2 absorption, adsorption and electrochemical conversion.
  2. Valorization of industrial wastes and by-products in particularly transforming plastic waste to value added materials such as CO2 capture agents.
  3. Fundamental and applied separation processes (absorption, adsorption, membrane systems for water treatment and reuse)
  4. Electrochemical processes especially development of electrode materials.

Prof. Dr. Yarub Kahtan Al-Douri

Prof. Dr. Yarub Al-Douri is a distinguished scientist, Fellow of the European Academy of Sciences, and one of the most renowned researchers across the Middle East, North Africa, and Southeast Asia, with pioneering contributions in renewable energy, nanotechnology, and nanoelectronics.

He holds a Doctorat D’État in Materials Science (2000), an MSc in Physics (1995), and a BSc in Physics (1991). Over his illustrious 30+ year career, he has served in a variety of academic and research roles—including Full Professor, Visiting Professor, Consultant Expert, and Post-doctoral Researcher—across institutions in the UAE, KSA, Iraq, Malaysia, Turkey, Pakistan, Algeria, Yemen, Singapore, Germany, and France.

Prof. Al-Douri is the founder of the MSc Nanotechnology Engineering Program and the Nano Computing Laboratory, the first of their kind in Malaysia and Southeast Asia. He also established the Applied Materials Laboratory in Algeria. His leadership includes roles such as Head of the Department of Nanomaterials, Department of International Networking and Collaboration, and Secretary of the Department of Physics.

His remarkable achievements have earned him 78 national and international awards, including:

Dr. Shadi Mohmmad Ahmad Hanandeh

Dr. Shadi Hanandeh is a professional researcher, consultant, and instructor with more than 15 years of broad experience in the geotechnical and pavement engineering fields. His areas of expertise include soil stabilization, using sustainable materials in geotechnical engineering; and the application of geosynthetics in geotechnical and pavement engineering. He earned his Ph.D.
degree in Civil Engineering from Louisiana State University in December 2016, and his M.Sc. degree in Civil Engineering (Geotechnical Engineering) from Jordan University for Science and Technology, Jordan, in June of 2007, and his B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from Mustansiriyah University, Iraq, in September of 2000. Since January 2017, he has been working as an Associate Professor at Al-Balqa Applied University, where his duties involve teaching undergraduate and graduate courses; conducting research studies in multiple geotechnical and
pavement engineering streams; drafting and publishing reports and scientific articles; advising undergraduate and graduate students; quality assurance and accreditation; and training and
consulting services.
